About Little Portuguese Farm

Little Portuguese Farm sits on a hillside in Almocageme, in the hills of Sintra, between the Sintra Natural Park and the Atlantic Ocean. On clear days you can see the sea from the land. It is ±40 minutes drive from Lisbon.

It’s a, small, regenerative farm with vegetables, herbs, fruit trees, and a food forest slowly coming into being. We are building biodiversity (with hopefully some chickens and bees soon), restoring the soil, and learning what it means to farm with the land rather than against it

We are on a journey to take our farm off the grid and learning to live as sustainably as possible. The farm teaches us to return to a simpler way of living, to value home-grown healthy food, community, and nature. This simpler way of living is healing and reconnects us with nature.

The Why

We have lost our way in our busy lives filled with constant entertainment, possessions, status, technology, and social media. These distractions are making us unhappy and leading to an increase in mental health issues.

Connecting with nature can heal us.

Reconnecting to nature, doing simple garden tasks, and being outdoors is proven to improve our mental health. It makes us more creative and allows us to connect to our inner wisdom.

It’s that simple, and we want to welcome individuals, groups, and teams to come and experience how nature boosts happiness and wellbeing.

Reconnecting with nature is also good for our planet. The more connected we are to nature, the less harm we do to it.

Thalita's Story

I spent over fifteen years founding and scaling companies in e-commerce and sustainability. I loved the building, the problem-solving, the pace. I also spent a lot of that time running faster than was good for me.

With that background comes something useful: I understand leadership from the inside. The pressure of decisions that affect people. The gap between the culture you want to build and the one that quietly forms anyway.

The shift in my own life happened slowly.  A growing sense that the life I had built no longer fit the person I was becoming. My husband and I moved to Portugal with our three children and started to build our own farm/house on the land.

I trained as a nature and life coach, became a Kundalini yoga teacher, and started co-running ocean swim sessions on the Atlantic coast. I started guiding people through the transitions I had navigated myself.

What I found is that the work is more powerful outside. The land does something that four walls cannot. Insight that people have been circling for months tends to surface in the first hour of a walk.

I help people, not by having the answers, but by asking the questions and creating the space where answers tend to emerge. In nature. At this farm. With the Sintra hills and the Atlantic as company.

If something about this resonates, I’d love to hear from you.
